About Me
- Name: JOMAC Scribe
- Location: South Africa
The JOHANNESBURG AIRPLANE CLUB - JOMAC is situated in a proclaimed Outdoor Leisure Activities Area a few kilometres north of Fourways, South Africa. JOMAC has one of the longest tarred runways in the country. As a flying site, it can handle Large Scale and Jet Models easily. It also has a separate grassed field for gliders, making it one of the few mixed glider and power sites in SA. Recently, the club has put-up a fine set of pit buildings. The club uses a "peg-on-board" frequency control system. the club encourages a culture of Safe Flying. The Committee, that is elected annually, manages the club's affairs. The Comittee publishes the minutes of its meetings, and details of expenditure. The club has three categories of membership; ordinary, under 18, and over 65. Membership of the SAMAA is mandatory. There are currently around 170 members. Around the club house is a grassy area, safely fenced-off from the flying activities, with children's swings and braai facilities. Visitors are very welcome
